Thank you Jewel~

I wish to Thank so many people whom helped me on line and off when Brittany was killed. To my sister Tammy I can't find the words to thank you enough, upon your arrival on April 9th while standing by my side I found the stregnth to do what every parent fears (Discontinue Life Support and let my daughter Brittany fight no longer. She was so very tired of holding on.)
To my sister Dianah, Brittany's God Parent's Paul, Karen and Linda Jo, my cousins Mia and Richard ... friends Evelyn and Sonya ... Peggy and Mitch ... Cindy E. and Pam, Thank you, for with out all of you I wouldn't have survived. To Ken Coniglio, the investigating officer whom stays close until this day, along with Dr. Baer, Barbara and Tom Scapoli. I Thank and Love You All.
To Brett Davidson, channel 10 NBC, Rochester, NY ... Reporter, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and to all at channel 10 NBC in Rochester Ny for airing our story after our interview, in hopes to empower change.
Lord, I Thank and Love You, for you never left our sides. Your promises so true.
There is hope on our site, along with grief, happiness and love.

I pray
Today
That God will bring you
Peace
Where there’s been pain
Harmony
Where there’s been discord
Love
Where there’s been loneliness
I pray
Today
That God will bring you
Solace
Where there’s been sorrow
Justice
Where there’s been inequality
Clarity
Where there’s been chaos
I pray
Today
That He will heal your human heart
and help you face tomorrow
With a renewed sense of
Courage
Strength
And wisdom.

Within The Hearts and Souls of Children
~I wish to offer my services to all that are bereaved at no cost. If you or someone you know would like a memorial site for your loved one please contace me. God Bless~
*The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Registry*
Welcome to Within The Hearts And Souls Of Children. This site was born after my daughter Brittany Leigh was killed at the age of two in a crash which a U-Haul Truck Renter struck our mini-van after failing to yield and running a light. 4.9.96 The company rents out large vehicles to the public without checking their driver's license through DMV. The driver of the U-haul truck that day had 9 points on his license and in NYS that means it was suspended. After showing his non expired license, U-haul happily rented the truck out. Our site was re-born again 4.7.2002 when our Son Dillon Thomas was Born Still. We never thought we would ever loose another child, we have survived and Within The Hearts of Children will always be.
After the shock, denial and so many more devastating emotions slowly took their toll I realized that it was within the hearts and souls of my surviving children (Tom, Jasmine, John, Christina, Aaliyah and Victoria) along with Brittany and Dillon that I learned to live again. Children can teach us so very much if we listen and truly take the time to acknowledge their teachings. There is so very much to learn from them. I dedicate this site to not only my children but to all children. You may access our Site Menu at the bottom of this page.

Brittany Leigh 3.15.94-4.9.96 Dillon Thomas 4.7.2002-4.7.2002
This is a memorial not only of Brittany's and Dillon's lives, but also of the lessons that they taught us, of the love they showered on us, the memories they left behind and the love these memories invoke in us. Maybe it will be a celebration of our growth, of the new people that we are becoming because of this tragedy. Maybe someday we will look back and remember that it was because of their living and dying that we began to appreciate life, re-evaluate our priorities, become more compassionate and understanding and able to give to the world. Perhaps their lives will be reborn in us by the impact we make in the world, by the difference we make in society. MAYBE that will be Brittany Leigh's and Dillon Thomas's final legacy.

Below is the cover of the 2002 TVRD calendar, you will see Brittany's pictures throughout along with many other victims. The California Institute of Transportation Safety at San Diego State University remembers all whom are traffic victims within their state along with all states in our country and other country's as well. What this means to so many families is truly remarkable, for we are not alone.
It is my opinion that if all states followed their lead we would see many much needed changes in certain laws and regulations.
I also wish to Thank The Graphic Designers Laura Anderson, Roberto Carneiro, Ryan Powell, and Beatriz Mendoza. To ALL the Elementary Students for their BEAUTIFUL artwork and drawings on each of the calendar monthly pages.
God Bless You All.
If you would like a calendar please contact David Brewer above. You may also click on the calendar cover below to be taken to CITS.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Brittany, she was fifteen months old and truly in charge. We had just gotten home from swimming at her Uncle Paul's and Aunt Karen's house and Brittany was the only one of us left with energy. Determined to stay on the porch and play, she accommodated her picture happy Mommy again.
